Indian and American Dialogue on Liberal Studies
The Indian and American Dialogue on Liberal Studies is a virtual global learning initiative built in collaboration between Salisbury University (SU) and the Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU). PDEU is a private university first established in in 2007. The university is located in Gandhinagar city in the Western state of Gujarat. The young city was named in honor of Mahatma Ghandi, who was born in Gujarat state. PDEU is recognized for its strength in engineering and technology programs, especially Petroleum Engineering. The School of Liberal Studies at PDEU and the Fulton School of Liberal Art at SU are the leaders in this Indian and American Corner initiative.
The first initiative in the Indian and American Studies was a joint seminar held during January 2021 as “Caste in India and the US” to explore the themes of race and caste in the Indian and American contexts. That first seminar has led to further activities designed to bring together students, faculty, and staff from Gandhinagar and Salisbury.
